Sechrest Art Gallery

The recessed lighting in High Point University’s Darrell E. Sechrest Art Gallery couldn’t have been put to better use than in the current exposition being hosted. Brown paper bags placed in shadow boxes create an oxymoronic, first-impression of each piece that lines the walls of the gallery. Either drawn in graphite or charcoal or painted on in muted tones is a depiction of a person, and most include a written story.

Students gain insight from accomplished journalist Byron Pitts

A mad scramble took place in the control room and Studio B on Oct. 9 as dozens gathered to witness Byron Pitts in action. Byron Pitts is an American journalist known for his work on ABC, CBS and 60 minutes; he also recently became the newest Journalist in Residence at HPU.

Students honor U.S. military on Veterans Day

November 18, 2017

High Point University hosted an event, “A Patriotic Salute and Breakfast for Military Heroes,” a Veterans Day celebration. City Council members, the Chief of Police, the Chief of the fire department and the City Major were just a few of the hundreds of community members that came out to celebrate our local Veterans.

HPU students discover eight new pulsating stars

Since the beginning of human existence, we have turned up to the night sky and been fascinated by the endless mystery just beyond our reach. To be mesmerized by stars and space is not uncommon, but what is uncommon is following this fascination nearly 5,000 miles away from home. Astronomy is a lot more than professional stargazing.
